Quiet rainy morning

As the last notes of "I Surrender" drift into the kitchen, I'm at my computer, contemplating a post. What to say? There's nothing earth-shattering going on--unless you count the miracle of the earth being woke from its sleep by Father. Unless you count the refreshing renewing rain washing away the residue of another winter in Iowa, urging the grass to become green and grow. Unless you count the wonder, and ponder anew the incredible Gift Father gave us, one Sunday morning in Israel. That is earth-shattering. I never want to be complacent about it, though I often am. Father, forgive me, for I don't know what I do.

Getting it all "Done"

Eventually that will all happen--and ironically, the song that just started on the radio is River's "There is a Time for Everything"--God's way of letting me know that soon enough the paint will get on the walls in Hannah's room, Peter will get to the ortho, even if it isn't today, and I don't need to feel guilt when I take "me time." I require me time, so do you. So take some, claim it. God did after he created the universe, Jesus did while he was on earth.

My God shall supply all our needs

With gratitude to the Father for prompting someone to gift...(and if you're reading this, thank you).

Every day, day by day

From day to day, not much seems to change, but if you look closer

- I'm one day closer to Heaven
- The grass is greener today than it was Friday
- I saw a robin's egg today as I walked home
- God has blessed us with health & safety through another weekend of travel
- I gradually learn to lean more and more on the Father

And above all, it is well with my soul.

Prayer--to do list or habit?

Last night, at the Unity Mother-Daughter banquet, I was challenged to think about my prayer life. Honestly, I do a LOT of chatting with my friend Jesus throughout the day, but I'm not very good at being still before God. I've been thinking about the words shared from Psalm 131:2 ever since. In spite of the hassles around me, I can rest securely in my Abba's lap, cradled in His arms, and know that everything will be all right. That's contentment, that's what I want.

Little "Necessities"?

Due to our continued financial crunch, I've been putting more thought into what makes it on my grocery list, and from there what actually makes it into my cart!

Take for instance, aluminum foil--at what point did it become a must have item in every American household? Is it handy? Sure! Do I really need it? Not really, yet when I run out, I am quick to replace it. Granted, I do my best to throw the consumed foil into the recycling bin, but still.

Perhaps part of my thinking is coming from having read The Restoration Series by Terri Blackstock. I put the last one down some time ago, but these have stayed with me. What if I was suddenly and unexpectedly stripped of the use of my car, my phone, computer--anything electrical? How would I cope? Remember my tap water is also powered by electricity in some form or another at the purification plant.

What about you? What little "necessities" do you have that you could just as easily live without?

Will I replenish my aluminum foil when it runs out? Perhaps, but perhaps I'll see how living without it for a while goes, and maybe never get it again!

Getting Down With Jesus: Come As You Are

Getting Down With Jesus: Come As You Are

Trust

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he's the one who will keep you on track.

Job 38

Where were you when I created the earth?
Tell me, since you know so much!
Who decided on its size? Certainly you'll know that!
Who came up with the blueprints and measurements?
How was its foundation poured,
and who set the cornerstone,
While the morning stars sang in chorus
and all the angels shouted praise?
And who took charge of the ocean
when it gushed forth like a baby from the womb?
That was me! I wrapped it in soft clouds,
and tucked it in safely at night.

Isaiah 55:8-9
"I don't think the way you think.
The way you work isn't the way I work."
God's Decree.
"For as the sky soars high above earth,
so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond the way you think.

Romans 11:33-36
Have you ever come on anything quite like this extravagant generosity of God, this deep, deep wisdom? It's way over our heads. We'll never figure it out.
Is there anyone around who can explain God?
Anyone smart enough to tell him what to do?
Anyone who has done him such a huge favor
that God has to ask his advice?
Everything comes from him;
Everything happens through him;
Everything ends up in him.
Always glory! Always praise!

Learning to trust, every day, in every way.
