Celebrations

We're home from a family celebration. After 46 years of hard work, the last 26 of which have been for one company, my dad has finally retired. We honored him this weekend with an open house at their home. It was fun to see a lot of people from my youth and catch up with them.

No family thing is completely perfect, and yes there were bumps along the way, but we made it through and have made it safely home again. We log quite a few miles on our vehicles travelling to see family and friends, and the miracle of God's safety is not lost on me. Thanks for your protection once again, Lord.

Eternal Perspective

Here I am, wallowing in things that I can't explain or control, I log onto my blog and the first song that plays is Newsboys "He Reigns." Thank you, Lord for reminding me that through all the muck I see, you are in charge, and that all things that are happening to me are going to work out for my good and your glory.

Family conference

We held a little pow-wow last night regarding Cursillo. We first explained to the kids why Cursillo is so important to us, then put it to them about both of us serving in the fall. They all decided that they would be okay with Mark & I being gone the three Saturdays in a row for meetings. Now Mark will be deciding whether he'll agree to serve on team as a table leader. Prayers coveted.

Lord, I hate to bother you, but...

Uh, hi, I hate to bother you, Lord, but there's something you should know...
Be still and know that I am God

Yeah, right, but you're not aware of this perhaps...
Be still and know that I am God

You see, we need rain...
Be still and know that I am God

I was watching the radar today, and what appeared to be coming towards us didn't
Be still and know that I am God

and I thought you'd like to know that's it is VERY dry here...
Be still and know that I am God

The crops need rain, or the farmers will be in trouble
Be still and know that I am God
The grass needs rain, or Peter won't earn the mowing money he needs.
Be still and know that I am God
Our cistern is empty...
Be still and know that I am God
and you realize, don't you, that we use it to save money on water bills.
Be still and know that I am God
But since its empty, we're paying for water to keep our trees and stuff alive

Be still and know that I am God

Anyway, Lord, I thought you should know.

Rain, Rain, Please Let it Rain!

It's so dry around here, the sky looked hopeful last night, but parts north and east of us got the rain, not us.
Crops are dry, lawns are crunchy, my cistern is empty, the earth around here needs a huge drink!
Shower us with your mercy, Lord, and bring on the rain!

Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday (yesterday) to my dear eldest child, who is quickly turning into a lovely young woman! I love you, honey!

Conflicted

Well, it happened. Mark got asked to be a table leader at this fall's Cursillo. Now I'm wondering if I really should have agreed to be an auxiliary. We simply cannot serve together on team the same weekend. It would prove to be a family disaster of almost Biblical proportions. Peter needs the stability of at least one parent around, and having both of us gone all day, three Saturdays in a row would be too much for him. We could find ways for him to be "entertained" with others, but he would still be off-kilter and we'd pay for it.
I'm wondering if it's too late for me to back out and let Mark serve. He has a lot to offer others, though he might not agree...
Sigh...
