This routine was such a hoot! Perfect for on the football field--the team had a ton of fun with it--can't you tell?

Keep your eye on the red one...

OPUS!

For the last 6 years, someone in our family has auditioned for the OPUS choir. For the first time ever, someone made it! Leah! So we'll be travelling to Ames for that in November.
In typical tenderhearted Leah style, she is more concerned with who didn't make than the fact that she did. She doesn't want to hurt other's feelings. I think she even feels bad for her sister!
Make it or not, we're proud of her.

Anniversary

Today Mark and I celebrate 19 years of marriage. Back in 1989, this day seemed very far off, though I knew it would come. Looking back over the years, I wonder at how time seems to fly, because it certainly hasn't been THAT long since I was a blushing bride, and Mark a nervous groom.
So happy anniversary, Mark! I'm awed at how I love you more with each passing year, and humbled that God gave me such a wonderful partner to journey through life with.

You're invited...

If you're in the area, and care to take in a high school football game with some great halftime entertainment...come on over on Friday night.
The drill team will be doing a FUN routine that I can't wait to see!
Also, on Sunday, we're looking forward to witnessing Hannah's public profession of faith. As parents, we've been witnessing it throughout her life, both publicly and privately, but this is a milestone in her faith journey that we're humbled to say happened in spite of our bumbling parenting efforts. God's grace is good, and it is enough.

Here's the first drill team performance for the 08-09 school year. Hannah starts out on the far left, if you want to try to keep your eye on her...

Challenge

A Challenge!
I took on an easy challenge from a blog I LOVE to follow, One Family's Journey. The challenge is to go to the Picture files on your computer, find the 6th file folder, select the 6th picture and post it!

The problem is that I only had 3 files in my 6th file, so I decided to tweak it and go with 7th & 7th. Here you go...

It's from Father's day this past summer. The kids decided to bake dad a cake from scratch. Here's Peter getting ready to serve a piece to Mark.

Don't have much to say

Not much to say today. The kids and I have the day off--so we're treating it like a Saturday, only without the paper route. That means that my washer & dryer will be going full steam all day, and hopefully the house will get clean! I've divided the house into 3 zones, and put each child in charge of one. Once they're done with their zone, they're free to do whatever they want. Its early yet, though, so the girls are still sleeping, and Peter is occupying himself with the TV for another five minutes or so.
Tomorrow Mark & Peter are headed off with a group of men to the Black Hills for the weekend. I'm praying for a good time of reconnecting in a (hopefully) non-stressful atmosphere.
the girls and I will hold down the fort for a couple of nights, I have to go to work in the morning of course. Hannah is training at her new job--Culver's. Saturday is VIP day there where all immediate family members of the crew get to go & let them practice on us. I'll just have to take one for the team and "suffer" through a butter-burger and frozen custard (or two)! Sigh. Such a hardship... NOT!
